Protection from Electromagnetic Radiation by Shungite
While conducting experiments in new medical technologies, scientists at the Tula Research Institute in Russia discovered that shungite’s shielding properties diminish the effects of electromagnetic radiation. Specifically, its fullerene structure makes shungite suitable as a shielding screen against the pathogenic influence of electromagnetic radiation. Such shields are available, for example as plates attached to the backs of cell phones (see illustration).

How to Spot Fake Shungite
The unique properties of shungite have been known for quite some time. It is not a secret that some dishonest merchants sometimes try to sell a similar looking mineral as shungite (as long as it looks like shungite and has a same color).

To visually spot a fake is somewhat difficult even for a specialist, but there is a very easy way to test whether you have a real shungite or something which just looks similar to it. Real shungite has the ability to conduct electricity, which is a very rare quality for stones.
